Refer to Style | 様式から引っ張ってくる。

As weather forecast said, snow fall was just on Monday, and Tuesday which is today will be completely sunny, and it was actually. On my way to office, i tried to be careful not to slip and fall into chilly canal.　　Today, I had to finish some of the internal elevation to discuss the design with my boss. While we were having a meeting, he mentioned a never-heared-curious word which is "Shaker Style". I contemplated to find out what it is but finally i couldn't figure out. Shaker style is a style which is developed by people who belonged to Shaker. Their monastic way of life realized such style in furniture and architecture. Its different from the source of modernism but i could feel similar taste from the design.

雪は天気予報通りに月曜日の夜にはやみ、火曜日は雲１つない快晴で１日が始まった。　　地面が凍り、滑りやすくなった地面に気をつけて出勤。こんな寒さの時に、すべって運河に落下はあり得ない。今日はいくつかの内部展開を仕上げ、社長にチェックをしてもらう。その社長とボスと自分の３人で打合せをしていると、社長から聞き慣れない言葉を耳にした。「ここはShaker Style／シェーカー様式でいこう」といった。考えを巡らしたが、その様式が一体何なのか全く解らなかった。シェーカー様式とはシェーカー教に属していた人達の生活から生まれたスタイルであった。１８世紀キリスト教から分離して、イギリスからアメリカに渡った宗教で、禁欲的で勤勉な生活を実践していたらしい。そして彼等の生活態度、必要性が家具や建築に染み出て様式化したのだった。源泉が違うがミニマル指向で、俗にいうモダニズムに近しい気がする。今焦点を当てているのは、作りつけの家具で、シェーカースタイルのものは壁に埋め込まれているが数センチだけ壁から室内に戻されボリューム感がでているのが写真から確認できる。そして引き出しも又面から離されている。全て面で納めればよい、、、とは思わない。それにこのズレ方は好みである。そしてこのズレの良さというか意味は何かと問いかけながら、この感覚で家具を設計しようと試みている。
