Heritage architecture on one hand,, but on the other hand, I am designing some cupboard, shelves, bathroom for my boss. I listen to what my boss says to me at first, and simply draw lines. If he asked me to do 1, i will reply 2. In this 2, I am adding my design which gives a kind of suggestion for my boss. But of course,, my boss is much more expert than i am. At this situation, my colleague who were carpenter from Switzerland and being architect now is very helpful. Switzerland-educated carpenter has broad knowledge and technique for how to use wood. And what was made is so beautiful and delicate. He can do this because he had been working for many years with famous architects. I am learning and absorbing alot of details that I never seen before from them to realize the ideal image in my mind.
重要文化財の建築をいじっている一方で、それと平行して僕のボスの住まいの棚や、浴室など、色んなものを設計している。家具的なスケールの設計は社長の大まかな要求を聞いて、さっと図面を引いて詰めていく。１を要求されれば、必ず２を返す。２の中に自分のデザインを盛り込んでボスに「これはどうかな」と提案する。それでもまだまだボスの方が上手だ。その時、助けになるのがスイス人の元大工で、今は建築家の同僚。木に関するディテールと木工知識、僕は彼の足下にもおよばない。スイス仕込みの大工の木工テクニックと知識によってつくられるモノはとても綺麗で、繊細である。有名建築家の事務所を渡り歩いている彼であるからなせる技である。ボスと彼から、実物を自分の実現したいイメージにドンドン近づけていくために必要な細部の見たことない納め方を多く学び、吸収している今日この頃。
