The promotion video of "Protection" by Massive Attack, is amazingly good. Good song as well. It's directed by Michel Gondry. The good thing about this film is the camera work which seamlessly swimming in the interior and exterior of city and architecture. Architecture is freed from the reign of gravity which reveals various lifestyles of people who live in the architecture. It is like introducing time axis into the section of architecture. Its like a feeling of curiosity that we feel before certain moment when we cut the section of an architecture. And also, its similar to Gordon Matta Clark's art work which cut the architecture in different ways. Well obviously, architecture is put pressure from both sides, "film and art"
英国のユニット、マッシブ・アタックの「プロテクション」という曲のプロモーションビデオは興味深い。曲もいい。ＰＶはミッシェル・ゴンドレイが監督している。カメラワークが複雑で、シームレスで都市・建築の内・外部を遊泳する感じが良い。建築が重力の支配から開放され、登場人物の多様な生活が建築の断面図を眺めているかのように描写される。カメラがぐるぐると回転するから、断面だけでなく、平面、室内展開、屋根伏せなどに時間軸が導入される感覚だ。建築をズバッと切断してドローイングに仕上げる直前の、「何が見えるかな」という好奇心がそのまま映像にされている。ゴードン・マッタークラークの建築を使ったアートにも近いものを感じる。映像・アート方面からグイグイと建築へ圧力がかけられているよう。
