Another friday today. The time passes really fast. In the morning, when i was amending some drawings, Boss asked me to create new design idea for new pavilion immediately. I have to prepare all documents for the presentation before monday evening. Its not just a pavilion but we will associate with artist which is our advantage. Architecture bonds with art, this will make multiple effect to the space. It will be very busy until then. At this moment, i am engaged with 4 projects. Being busy, but i quite enjoy the situation that crossing over different scale, function, and material of architecture by doing so. Learning many things everyday. Friday night is pub day. I could talk and listen to my boss. He is such an interesting person, as an engineer, he knows many about materials and it's price, durability and so on, that enlight us to reach our ideas, in a way, more pragmatic architecture. This stance is really similar to the laboratory i used to belong in Japan. And also he has quite strong connection. In front of this, recession doesn't mean anything, probably.
今週もまた金曜日を迎える。あっという間に時間が過ぎてゆく。午前中、図面修正をしていたところ、社長から僕と自分のボスに早急にデザインアイデアを練って欲しいという要求があった。月曜の夜までがリミットでプレゼン資料を作成しなくてはならない。ロンドンのとある公園でパビリオンつくるアイデア。伊東豊雄やザハ、最近ではゲーリーもパビリオンつくっていた公園だ。単なるパビリオンではなく我々の事務所の強みを持ち込む。すなわち「ダミアンを使う」。アーティストに頼るのではなく、相乗効果をあげる。建築がアートに、アートが建築に歩み寄り互いのアイデアを補強し合うのだ。月曜の夜まで多忙を極めると思われる。今現在４つのプロジェクトに参加し、毎日交互に進めて忙しいが楽しくやっている。建築のスケール、用途、マテリアルを自由に横断して色んな事を毎日学びとっている。仕事終わり皆でパブへ。社長と色んな話を聞けた。社長はもともとエンジニアであるため建築のアプローチがとてもリアルで信頼がおける。建築に使われる有りとあらゆるマテリアルの価格と耐久性などが瞬時にでてくる。僕が所属していた石山研究室のスタンスと似るところがある。またダミアンとのコネクションからも解るが広大なネットワークを持っている。このコネクションには不景気など関係ないのだろう。
