After the Lloyd's Building in Bank, i went to the office of Richard Rogers. The Roger's office is located beside River Thames as well as the Foster's office.It seemed more smaller than i expected. Compare to Foster's, even it' s international well known architect office, it's scale was quite small. But I liked this size. and despite the size of the office, the practical works running by Rogers' were worldwide. Adjacent to the office, there was a restaurant managed by Roger's wife. It was weekend and sunny, therefore many people were enjoying the lunch in front of river Thames.
Their architectural models displayed in the lobby were absorbing which will likely to leave Roger's mark on architectural history. Although the Foster's office is now seeking new possibility of architectures by keeping a distance from the masterpieces of themselves in the past, The Roger's office still hang on their achievements. The ideas were recycled repeatedly. When I compare the architectures for instance, Lloyd's and the one will be constructed in front of it, I feel the Lloyd's would be much better. Whatever will be absorbed to the original one.

ロイズビルを後にして、ロジャーズ事務所へ移動。ロジャーズ事務所もまたフォスター事務所と同様、テムズ川に面して事務所を構えている。両者ともテムズを眺めながら仕事をしている。規模はロジャーズの方がコンパクトだけれども、プロジェクトは国際的だった。事務所に隣接してロジャーズの奥さんが経営するレストランがあった。週末だし、天気も良いし繁盛していた。
ロジャーズ事務所のロビーに飾ってあったロイズビル、ポンピドゥーセンター他の過去の名建築が印象的だった。フォスター事務所は過去の作品とは一線を画して、新しい建築をつくりだそうと邁進している様だけれども、ロジャーズ事務所の方は過去の名建築から脱していない様な気がした。新しいプロジェクトでもどこか焼き直し的な感じがするものがある。だからロイズビルの真っ正面に建設中の新しい建築もロイズと比較すると、はるかにロイズの方がかっこいい。どれもオリジナルに吸収されてしまう。
