6th day, 1st of January, 2008, the most memorable day of the year,,, i woke up was again, at that sofa. We were too rude to change and find another hotel to stay, so that we decided to postpone to stay here one more day.　... I forgot to write about the hammame, the public bath we took last night to relieve our fatigue. By filling the bucket with really hot water, and put water in it to make it suitable temperature to bathe. Well, it was heaven at that moment, but when i noticed that some oily membrane were floating on the surface of the water, we were shocked... Destroying the mood...

６日目の朝、２００８年１月１日、記念すべき第１日目の目覚めは、あろう事かまたあのリビングのソファーだった。移動するのが面倒くさくて、結局２日目もあそこに泊まってしまった。 書き忘れたが、大晦日の夜はハマム（共同浴場）にいって、溜まった旅の疲れを癒してきた。熱湯に近い熱いお湯が湧き出ており、バケツにその熱湯をくみ上げ、冷たい水と混ぜて適温にしてから、頭からかぶる様式のものだった。スッキリしたがお湯の水面に油らしき膜が浮遊しているのを発見してしまい、気分が台無しになった。

Well, anyway, today we have to reach farther to Tanger where we can see the wide panoramic view of Europe continent. Today, again, we have to spent most of the time on transportation. Saying goodbye to the family that is still unknown and the boy, Smile, we departed to the station, by taxi. As the train was unexpectedly crowded, we couldn't get any seats, and it was more difficult to push ourself into the coach. At the end, we were standing in the train until we reached to Tanger station. In the train, I was curious about the woman who was a native standing next to me and reading a textbook about electric circuit in French. How will she spend the life here.

それはさておき、今日は更に北上してヨーロッパ大陸が見えるタンジェまで行かなくちゃならない。今日もまた大半を移動日として消費する。見知らぬ家族とスマイルに別れの挨拶をして出発。タクシーで駅まで。電車は想像以上に混み合っており、乗れるかどうか危ういところであったが、強引に身体を押し込んで何とか乗車した。結局タンジェまでの数時間は経ち続けることになった。車内、僕の隣に立っていたイスラム系と思われる若い学生っぽい女性がフランス語で書かれた電子回路の教科書らしきものを熱心に読んでいた。この人は一体どのような人生を歩むんだろうか。

Before evening we arrived at Tanger. From the southern part of Morocco, Chegaga Desert, to Marrakech, and Fez, the city environment changed dramatically, the city become more modernised. The road was much wider, traffic density was increased, and city was not silent at all. The city is forested with middle-rise buildings, and some gangs are hanging around the void of the city. They are not a few numbers. Here is not anymore a part of Africa but Europe. We became more nervous when we hang around outside. No relation to desert anymore. I don't know when the environment changed such dramatically in several hours of transfer.

夕方前にタンジェに到着。今回の旅行での最南端に位置したシェガガ砂漠から、マラケシュ、そしてフェズを通って北上してきたが、ここにきて一気に都市の近代性が増す。道路の幅は広がり、交通量が一気に増え道は混み合い、クラクションが鳴りやまない。オフィスやアパートの中層ビル建築が林立し、街にはギャングの様な若者がグループになって、そこらをたむろしている。それもかなりの数だった。あのシェガガと地続きであるが、ここはもうアフリカよりもむしろヨーロッパの一部になっていた。街を歩くにも、今までと違って緊張してしまう。歩いている人間の人柄が違う。ここに住む人達にはもう砂漠とかもう一切関係ない。完全に都市の人間だ。フェズとタンジェの間の一体どこら辺でこのすれ違いが起こったのか、わからないが、急激な変化に驚いた。

At night, we went to a bit expensive Spanish restaurant to eat good sea food, you know because today is the new year's day. Fried fresh fish, and sea food paella. Those were fantastic. Paella was arranged to morocco taste, as it included some rams as ingredients. Only one mistake was the salad we ordered. I recommended to eat one salad dish that i supposed to be a good dish, but it was not what i was expecting. Unknown object like a bud-like lotus flower. in the end, we finished to eat it but we didn't know where and how to eat it.

夜はせっかくの元日だからといって、少しばかり豪華なスペイン料理にした。海の町だからやはり海の幸を注文した。海鮮のフライ。それと海鮮パエリア。パエリアはラムが入っていて、モロッコ風にアレンジされていてとても美味しかった。僕がこれは絶対美味いといって頼んだサラダがあったが、これは明らかに失敗だった。見た事ねえ蓮のつぼみのような植物がどかんと皿の上に乗っかってでてきた。食べる場所が解らないのと、とげが多くて、まあ結局よくわからん食べ物だった。食後、危険なギャングを避けつつ、電球１つのしょっぼい安宿に戻った。
