I would like to finish the diary about this Morocco journey ASAP. 7th day, woke up in the hotel room with only one bulb from the ceiling. Today, finally, we will get across from African Continent to European Continent. I already reserved 2 persons for the ferry to Algeciras, in Andalusia before evening. In the morning, we had nothing to do, except roaming around the city. On the way, as it suddenly started to rain, we took shelter. But it was strong enough to make us wet. This was the first time to be caught in the rain in this journey. We gradually became gloomy by this. Well, at the end we decided to go to the terminal.
早めに更新して、モロッコの話は終わらせよう。７日目の朝、電球１つの宿で目覚める。今日はいよいよアフリカ大陸からヨーロッパへ大陸へと渡る。夕方前にスペインのアルゲヘシラス行きの高速フェリーを予約してある。午前中、ほとんどすることもなく、街中をぶらぶら。途中、雨が降り出し雨宿りするも、余りに激し過ぎる雨にびしょ濡れになった。この旅初めての雨で一気にトーンダウンし、もう、港に行こうと相成った。これでタンジェの印象が一気に悪くなった。
When we get to the entrance at the terminal, we eyewitnessed odd scene. Native teenagers seems to be native were doing something at the space between the track's platform and the ground, even it is raining strongly. The drivers were shouting at them not to do something behind the track. At this time we didn't know what is all this about...
港の入り口を超えた当たりで、変な光景を目にした。現地の中高生くらいの子供達が、雨の中にびしょ濡れになり、トラックの荷台と、道路の間にできたちょっとした空間に潜り込んで、なにやらもぞもぞしていた。トラックの運転手が怒鳴り声をあげ、その子供達を追い払おうとしていた。その時はそのまま通り過ごした。
The passport control in terminal, we were stopped. They are suspecting our passport as counterfeit, so that we were told to visit the police office to have an official stamps from the police. No ideas about what kind of stamps we should get. but when i showed the paper from the passport control, policeman showed as a list of Japanese KATAKANA and HIRAGANA letters. WHAT?? Briefly, we were under suspicion of illegal entry to a country. A policeman who has a stern face pointed one letter on the list with his finger. "read." so, we read "KE" "SU", , , like that and just that. But when we gaze at one letter of KATAKANA or HIRAGANA, sometimes it become very difficult to read, because it become a symbol more than a letter of KATAKANA or HIRAGANA. Like this phenomena in Linguistics, I assume that they call this "Zusammenbruch der Gestalt" in germany, i don't know in English.
港のパスポートコントロールで待ったがかかった。僕達のパスポートを疑っている。警察にいって印を押して貰ってこいといわれ、１つ下の階の警察へ向かった。一体何の印が必要なのか解らなかったが、書類を見せると、カタカナひらがなの一覧表が出てきた。「はあ？」簡単にいうと不法入国の容疑がかかっていたという事だった。日本のパスポートを、、大半の国ならビザ申請のいらないパーフェクトパスポートを舐めやがってえー。厳つい顔の警察官がひらがなを指さし、読めといい「け」「す」などと読む。ただそれだけなのだが、カタカナひらがなを１文字づつみると意外と発音するのが難しい。緊張して発音を失敗しそうだった。「ツ、シ」とか「め、ぬ」は危うい。単一で見せられると、なんだっけこの記号？と疑問を持ってしまう。こういうのを言語学的にいうとゲシュタルト崩壊っていうんじゃないだろうか。全体性をもったまとまりを、何かを切っ掛けにその全体を構成している部分に切り離して認識しようとする事。一瞬、戸惑ったが何とかクリアして、判子を押してもらった。
After that, we successfully passed the passport control. When the ferry arrived at platform, they announced that we can wait in front of the platform. Even though, we waited more than a hour to get on the ferry at the end. We spend time in the rain again. This made us more irritated. Just near by, security man and his dog was walking around for something. And suddenly, when the dog started barking at the track, unbelievable numbers of children were appeared from the shadow between the platform and the ground. This was the control of illegal immigration. The terminal and the ferry here is not just for human transportation, but also as a part of physical distribution system. The ferry has ability to embark many people but also some of containers. The children were hidden at the bottom of container. This was really astonishing for us. Most of the street children in Spain are illegal immigrant from Morocco. In Spain, I've heard that there is "a law which allows children not to be forcibly returned from the country unless their parents are known where they live". Therefore, once the children succeeded in illegal immigration, they stay in Spain. This triggers children's addiction of drag, prostitutes, or try their hands at other criminal act. In my opinion, the action of Morocco government to control the immigrants is not enough. Because, u see, the children just now having been beaten off, they are already hiding in different tracks!! Security men, they are not so serious. And also the drags like hashish, those importation also never decrease, definitely. Sometimes, there were no one at the custom office in the terminal. This is completely non-sense. There is no obvious restriction.
その後、パスポートコントロールもクリアしてロビーで数時間待ち。フェリーが到着し乗り込めると聞いて、フェリーの停泊しているプラットホームまで行くが一向に入れる許可が降りない。雨に打たれながらまた時間を潰す、だんだんと苛立ってはやくスペインに行きたい気持ちが募る。近くで警察官が警察犬を連れて動き回っている。すると、突然犬が吠えだして、何とトラックの荷台と地面のちょっとした隙間からうじゃうじゃと先ほど見た子供達が現れた。不法入国者とその取り締まりだった。港だから、勿論人的な移動だけではなく、物流も兼ねている。フェリーには沢山の人が乗せられるが、沢山のコンテナも詰め込める様になっている。そのコンテナの裏側にくっついていたのだ。これには驚いた。スペインのストリートチルドレンの大半はモロッコから不法入国した子供達だそうだ。スペインには「未成年であるという理由から親元が判明しなければ強制送還されることがない外国人法」があるらしい。そのため彼等は入国に成功するとスペインに居続けるのだそうだ。そしてドラッグや売春などの犯罪に手を染める。僕の見解としてはモロッコ側の取り締まり方がまだまだ甘いと思う。なぜなら一度追い払った子供が、もう別のトラックに隠れてるじゃないか。警察が取り締まると言っても、ただ発見して追い払うのみ。その後警官の目を盗んで直ぐさま又別のトラックにくっついている。あれじゃあ減らないぜ、不法入国。あと、大麻などのドラッグの輸入も減らない、絶対。パスポートコントロールの後の税関には人がいない時があった。というか何も検査されずに通り過ぎている人だっているじゃないか。あれじゃあ駄目だ。ゆるゆるだ。

Many more words to say, but now I rather want to take hot shower, and warm myself up, change my underwear and socks, and wear dried shoes. Even we wanted to buy something in the ferry, at first we couldn't buy any of them as we didn't have any EUROs in our pockets. But some nice kind man exchanged our DH to EURO. At this distance in time, i can hardly remenber what we bought at that time, but i think it was a cup of hot chocolate and chocolate bar. After a few hours of boarding, we arrived at Algeciras, it was surely Spain, Europe. The night view of the Algeciras harbour from the deck was beautiful. We saw a Japanese woman from her behind when we were walking to passport control. Her style of travelling was very professional as she just had a very small backpack. You know, our backpacks seem to be too exaggerated. We decided to stay at very nice hotel this time. The 3 stars hotel was our choice here with Japanese girl, because she didn't have any hotel to stay. Arriving at hotel, i changed the clothes and went out for dinner. The shower at the hotel was so hygienic and special, i mean it was very usual in europe. i washed some clothes and hanged on the heater. How comfortable here is, i cannot express with words.
文句はたくさんあるが今はシャワーに入り、身体を温め、靴下を替え、乾いた靴を履きたい。フェリーの中で売店を見つけるもユーロを持っていなくて食べたいものが買えず、、、と思いきやモロッコディラハムをユーロに替えてくれる優しいおじさんに出くわし交換して貰った。今となっては、うる覚えだがたしかホットチョコレートとチョコレートバーを食べた。遠くに見えるヨーロッパ大陸、アルヘシラス港の夜景は綺麗だった。到着寸前にはアルヘシラスの港を外部デッキから眺めた。写真を撮ろうとしても船が揺れているから、きちんと撮れなかった。でもそれが又綺麗な模様になっていた。港には色んな船が停泊し色んなコンテナが積まれていた。到着後の税関に向かう途中、日本人女性らしき後ろ姿が見えて、声を掛ける。日本人女性１人のモロッコ観光だった。ものすごい度胸だこの人は。荷物も背中のリュックサック１つと最小限だ。僕らの荷物が大げさに見えた。到着後、あまりにびしょ濡れで疲れたので今日こそはちょっとは豪華なホテルに泊まるぞと奮発して、３つ星のホテルに直行した。日本人女性も泊まるホテルが未定ということで、同行。到着後着替えて３人で食事をして、就寝。シャワーが、ヨーロッパのシャーワーがこんなに清潔で、気持ち良いことに感激した。その後洗濯物をして熟睡。暖房も良く効いて気持ちがよかった。
