TIER 1発給

In front of our office was crowded with people including policemen. They were filming something.When I get back to my home, i found a post from Home Office which made me really happy and secure. The passport with new issued visa inside came back. What is called TIER 1 Post Study Work. So I can stay here other 2 years and work full-time without work permission. 2 years seems to be very long but must be short. After this visa I have to apply basic Leave to remain, and work permission which cost much more than Tier 1. Its nice if the company pay this expense instead of me. To achieve I have to work as hard as I can. By the way, according to BBC today, UK unemployment hits 1.92 million. This is the worst situation since 1997. And its said that it will be 3.00 million by the end of the year. Surely, we young foreigners become the target of the reduction. I should be aware of that.

事務所の前で一日中何かの撮影をしている。大がかりな装置と警察でごった返していた。夜、家に帰るとキッチンに郵便物が届いていて、みるとHOME OFFICE(内務省)からだと気付いて一安心。パスポートに２月１日からの新しいビザが発給されて返ってきたのだ。いわゆるTIER1のPOST STUDY WORKというやつで、イギリスの指定された教育機関を卒業して更に仕事に就きたいと思う人が申請できるもの。最近は申請を拒否する事も多いらしく、申請が通るかどうか心配だった。申請用紙５０ページに的確に記入しないといけない。書き忘れなどが一つでもあると落とされるらしい。　　まあでも、これで２年間延長して滞在しフルタイムで働くことが出来る。労働許可証無しで働けるものだからとても便利である。長いようできっと短い。２年後以降は一般的な滞在許可証（Leave to remain）と労働許可証 (Work Permission)が必要にある。これはべらぼうに高いらしいから今からもうコツコツ貯めないとだめだ。会社が出してくれれば一番良いのだけれどもね。だして貰うよう頑張らねば。　　そう言えば本日のＢＢＣによれば失業者が１９９７年以降最悪の１９２万人に達したという。年内には３００万人に達すると言われているらしい。英国で真っ先に首を切られるのは恐らく、自分達、若い外国人だろう。気を引き締めていきたい。
