I don't want to slob around this vacation, so that I have to swinge myself. But already, in terms of that i haven't listen to the recorded voice of the critic for a week, I am doodling. I went to the exhibition at Victoria Miro. Wangechi Mutu is a woman artist born in Kenya and New York based. It says that this is her first solo exhibition and she is drawing attention as an artist of new generation. Fantastic collages. Although the taste was grotesque and erotic overall, looking at the detail closely, color and texture create beautiful landscape. She used three dimensional materials like pearls and lame, and mixed with 2D materials like cutting paper and acrylic painting. And diverse figurative images of tropical plants, motor cycles, insects, and woman from fashion magazine. Those fragment of images reembodied as human organism. Motorcycle "precisely an engine of a car" was treated as symbol of machine, and mechanism of human brain by Eduardo Paolozzi, but Mutu used it "especially the one like Harley Davidson" as symbol of sexuality and eroticism. The way of looking at things is varying or transforming. She herself overwhelmingly insists her view of the world and says "the world is like that". I felt that I had a glimpse of inferno or mandala.
だらだらとした冬休みにならない様、鞭入れしなくてはならない。すでに、先週のクリティークの録音を聞こうとしないという点でだらけているのだけれど。ヴィクトリア・ミロ"Victoria Miro"で気になる展示会をやっていた。ワンゲチ・ムツ"Wangechi Mutu"（日本語表記はこれでいいのかな？）というケニア生まれのニューヨークベースの女性アーティスト。はじめてのソロエキシビションらしく、新しい世代のアーティストとして注目されているようだ。すげえコラージュだった。すべてグロテスクでエロティックなテイストだが、細部に目を凝らしてみると、色合いとかテクスチャーがとても綺麗だった。マテリアルは真珠とかラメの様な立体的なものと、紙の切り貼りとアクリルペイントの平面的な要素で構成されている。それと熱帯雨林に咲く花、バイク、昆虫、女性のファッション雑誌等のイメージが比喩的に引用され、それらが切り刻まれて人体をかたどったりしている。バイク（正確に言うと車のエンジンなんだけど）はエドゥアルド・パオロッツィのコラージュでは機械、人間の脳のメカニズムのメタファとして使われていたけど、ムツはバイク（ハーレーのようなアメリカン）をエロティックなシンボルとして使っている。時代によって物に対する見方、物が持っている意味が分岐し、もしくわ変化しているようだ。彼女自身の「世界はこうなのよ」っていう圧倒的な世界観を見せつけられた様な感じで、何だか地獄・極楽絵図とか曼荼羅を見ているようだった。
