It was about a month ago that this year's Serpentine Gallery temporal pavilion design will be done by SANAA. And today i just glimpsed the completed image of pavilion they will design in a magazine when i was leafing it. It was obvious and conservative SANAA DESIGN. Very simple design. Maybe they designed very quickly... Or maybe It is one of idea out of 100 which is designed by their staff. Either of them maybe. considering about the work from other architects like Gehry, Zaha, Rem, Toyoito, they are all very bit heavy construction, but Sanaa's idea is quite temporal. In terms of this, its good. I don't know whether BEING CONSERVATIVE is good or not.
サーペンタイン・ギャラリーの今年のデザインがＳＡＮＡＡに決まったのを知ったのは最近だったが、今日雑誌をぱらぱらとめくっていると、デザインが公開されていた。ＳＡＮＡＡらしい路線をいく保守的なアイデアだった。さらっとデザインしたのかな。それとも有能な所員さん達のアイデア、１００の内の２，３のデザインなのかな。どっちかな。最近のゲーリーやそれ以前のザハ、レム、トヨイトー等のと比べるとＳＡＮＡＡの方が仮設的で、それ以外はちょっと重い建設であったと思う。そういう視点で考えるとこの軽さはよいのではないか。外人にも受けがよいだろう。保守的が良いのかはどうかは別にして。
それにしても、ガーディアンがその日にニュースでピックアップするくらいだから、サーペンタインは余程注目されているのだろう。
