I knew that there was a construction at Oxford Circus but i wasn't sure about what construction they are working on. I assumed that the fences covering the construction site will stay there forever, that makes the street congestion. I wasn't sure when they will finish it but it seems, today, they've done it. So what was the construction all about. It was new X crossing that allows people to walk diagonally as well as straight ahead. BBC says it was based on crossing in Tokyo, apparently Shibuya. If all the building facing the crossing introduce huge display onto their facade, which means advertisement, X-crossing will come to life.
オクスフォード・サーカスにて大工事をやっていたのは知っていたが、いったい何の工事なのかは見当がつかなかった。いつまでたっても工事用のフェンスが立っていて、週末なんか混雑が酷すぎて通れたもんじゃない。何時撤収されるか知る由もなかったが、どうやら今日工事が終わったようだ。で一体何の工事だったのかというと意外や意外、スクランブル交差点だった。渋谷から学んだらしい。だが液晶ビジョン＝広告がないからスクランブル交差点がフル活用されるにはまだ時間がかかるのじゃなかろうか。まあでもあそこに広告はまさか出ないだろう。
