2nd day at Sicily.
I woke up much earlier than my alarm goes off. I guess I was bit excited about this trip. 6 in the morning, the square in front of hotel was filled with silent compare with last night. Quick shower, and take a walk around the hotel. I was wondering what is this feeling of strangeness. Why is it so different from the atmosphere of Italy that i have been imagined. Long ago, city of Catania was ruined completely by the Eructation of Etna. After that, the city was rebuilt with new city planning. The city I am walking now is designed above the old city. I was walking very rigid street. I could see the tip of Etna far beyond the street. In one district, we could find excavated oval shaped old theatre. It was a proof of lost city underground.
シシリー２日目。
久し振りの旅行で緊張・興奮しているのか、目覚ましよりも早く目が覚めた。午前６時。昨晩の街の熱気は消え、静ずまったスクエアの上空を大量のツバメが覆い尽くしていた。さっとシャワーを浴びて、ルームメイトのミケルと街を歩く。何だろう、想像していたイタリアの街のイメージと違うのは何故かと考えていた。それはカターニャの街が昔、エトナ山の噴火によって壊滅した後、土中に埋まった都市の上に新たな直線的な都市が計画されたからだった。想像していた迷路状のものと違っていて、ひたすら直線的な道だった。その先にエトナ山が聳えていた。街のある１区画には楕円形コロシアムの発掘現場がそのまま残されており、土中に別の都市が埋まっているのが実感できる。
Waking around the city, fish market, and cafe to have breakfast & talking with Michel. Fish in the market was fresh that doesn't make any fishy smell. Ray, swordfish, I could see something rare, and at same time there are vegetable, fruit market adjacent to the fish market which attract our eyes. I tried some of fruit that I never had before in my life.
After early breakfast, we rented a car to explore inland.
歩いて街をみて、魚市場をまわり、カフェにいってミケルと朝食・歓談。市場の魚はロンドンのよりも圧倒的に新鮮で、嫌な臭いがちっともしなかった。エイ、カジキ等がとくに目に付いた。エスカルゴや野菜、果物も売っていて、食べたことのない果物をちょっとつまんで、美味しかった。
朝食や軽い観光を済まして、レンタカーでシシリーの内陸へと向かう。
