Travel back in time to last Thursday lunch time. Until 13, telephone in the office kept ringing and we were really busy. After today, the office become empty for while, so everyone had to finish there work today. After we finish, we slipped into tube and Airport express. All were found in airplane without missing no one.
listening to music, reading, and talking. 3 hours were quite fast passing, the airplane was ready to land. It was impressive to see sunset above sea of clouds. Once getting out of sea clouds, i could find small orange lights scattered in the dark. It was dark, not like city night-scape.
Taxi from airport to the hotel in city centre. Having quick shower and a short rest, we headed for late dinner somewhere around. Even its 23 at late night, restaurant was open. This is one of different convention that we cannot find in London. I've eaten loads of fresh fish and, i mean they forced me to eat. and drink, I mean, they forced me to drink. And i did. Alcohol before, during and after meal, triple attach. But I've drunk. FInaly, dolce but Amaretto, Marsala, Limoncello, and Grappa and so on following. Had to be tough..... "Poor TAK, why you cannot drink?? hahaha" my colleague cheat me like that but they are gentlemen. so I like them saying like that to me.
先週の木曜日の昼まで時間を遡る。午後１３時半までひたすら事務所の電話が鳴り続けた。その日以降、会社全体が数日空白状態になるから大急ぎで仕事を畳みあげなければならなかった。そしてチューブを経由して空港行きエクスプレスに乗り込んだ。無事全員がＢＡの飛行機に搭乗してロンドンを離陸することができた。
音楽や読書、おしゃべり等して３時間があっという間に過ぎ去って、離陸体勢に入った。夕焼けの空と真っ黒い雲海が印象的だった。到着１０分までになってようやく分厚い雲から抜け出し、シチリアの海岸線が見え始め、暗闇にオレンジ色の灯りが点在しているのがわかった。都会の夜景とは無縁の暗闇。
到着後タクシーに乗って市内のホテルへ直行した。ホテルでシャワーを浴び、着替えをして全員で夕食。夜の２３時になってまだレストランは開いていた。ロンドンとは生活の時間帯が異なるのがわかる。新鮮な魚介類を中心にもりもり食べた、食べさせられた。最初は旨かった久し振りの蛸や、イカも、最後の方は何かも解らず口に放り込んで呑み込んだ。そして酒を飲んだ、というか飲まされた。食前・食中・食後の３連発の酒は僕には本当にきつかった、がまあ飲んだ。ドルチェがきて漸く終わったかと思ったが、それでもアマレット、マルサラ、リモンチェッロやグラッパが運ばれてきて、それを水のようにガバガバ飲むから困った。こいつ等の肝機能は一体どうなっているのだろうか。僕も全部ちびちびだがショットで飲んだ。「ＴＡＫは本当に飲めないんだな、ワハハ。今から訓練だ」と同僚にからかわれるけれども、これだけ飲まれたらあっぱれでこちらも気持ちが良い。それに皆マナーはちゃんとしているから、大人げない事もしないし。
After dinner, we had a nice walking outside. One of my colleague, Fransisco who live here for while before guided us to some famous square and places. Still town was full of young people. This is Italy, i thought. Fiat on-street parking, old lantern, tabacco machine and so on... i could see what are the elements constructing the landscape in front of me. Most of the buildings were weathered and looked old which were not refurbished for long time. Things which made me interesting were flagstones made volcanic rocks. I guess they are from Etna. They were rounded and smoothed because of long period of ablation. When you walk on this with nice leather shoes, it creates nice ephemeral sound like metal.
When back to our room and took another shower, and flop back on the bed. Had to sleep and rest for tomorrow. It would be quite early.
夕食後、涼しくなった夜中の街を歩いた。同僚のフランシスコはシチリアで暮らしていたことがあるから、ただくっついていけば、良いところに連れて行ってくれる。夜の街には元気な若い人達が沢山騒いでいていかにもイタリアを感じさせた。路上駐車のフィアットの行列、古びた外灯、タバコの自販機等、イタリアの街の風景を形作る要素が何であるか沢山発見できた。建築はいずれも表面が削れ落ち、深く彫られた装飾からは草が茂ったり、風化していてものすごい風景になっていた。特にいいなと思ったのは、エトナ山（だと思う）の火山岩の敷き石。長年の摩耗で表面が丸みを帯び、すっかりツルツルになって黒光りしていた。いい革靴で歩くと金属の様な響きがして耳に心地よかった。久し振りに観光地独特の人の目線を感じた。観光客が多くても日本人はやはり珍しいのだろう。
ホテルの部屋に戻ってまたシャワーを浴び、すやすやと就寝。明日は早い。
